Drawing in Painter I did at school. I changed my mind, I now love painter, and am very sad I don't have it.
It wasn't actually an assignment, but I finished the assignments already and was bored. This picture would NOT be possible without the grainy blender tool! Omg it saved my life!
Areas that still bother me though I stressed to death already over them:
Ears are too blurry. If I try to sharpen it, it looks weird, but one touch of the blender makes it blurry again e.e so I gave up.
The nose is crooked!! Agh.
Anyway, what do you think?

Edit: No, this is NOT a photomanip. I heavily used the reference yes, but this was completely drawn in its own document, I used the chalk tool mostly, with some ink pen for the details, and then I blurred and blurred and blurred. Again, it is NOT a photomanip, jeez e.e

Reference: [link] (this cat is gorgeous, I wants him/her)

Details (like the fancy shmancy artists do!): [link]

Thanks!

nice perspective....the use of light defines the shapes, so that even though they are blurred, they make sense. It is a cat, and that is what matters most.

Very well done :)

Also very good job for your first time using painter. I can't stand that program sometimes :P

haha memories...I keep trying to get back into it but I forgot everything I learned. It's so hard remembering how to use all these different graphic design programs >.<

I have a lot of trouble with painter since it's very different than photoshop, which is what I used most often. Now I use SAI a lot because it's kind of a combination of painter and photoshop.

SAI? Never heard of it :p
Paint definitely takes some getting used to. I don't like the way they have their tools set up, it's troublesome to find what I want right away...especially on the school computers, which reset every day, so you can't save preset brushes or anything x.x

yeah SAI is amazing. Look it up online. It has the ability to draw vector lines that make your lineart less shaky and after you draw a line, you can drag pieces of the line around to adjust their positions.

...sounds like illustrator :p

exactly. vector lines. except somehow these vector lines behave more like raster images ao when you erase parts of them, the rest of the line stays the way it was. plus it's pressure sensitive

in that case, it sounds like manga studio, lol.

Omg wow. Now that's amazing... I actually love the blurriness of everything except for the eyes. Makes them stand out. She looks scared tho heh.
